The Long Awaited Return of the Brusty Beaker Breakdown!

‘Tis the season, and it’s time to bring back the age old question: What is the best Christmas Movie? To answer this question, we bring back last year’s dynamic duo of William “Brusty” Brust and Maxwell “Beaker” Steele to write this school year’s first Brusty Beaker Breakdown.

Growing up, my dad made sure to keep me cultured and always show me his favorite movies.  One of those just happened to be what I believe is the best Christmas movie of all time, Die Hard.  Now I know some of you are saying that this is not a Christmas movie, and all I have to say to you is that you’re wrong.  It may not be your traditional Christmas movie, but that is what makes it the best.

Bruce Willis’ John McClane is tasked with saving the holiday season, but it’s not the Grinch that is taking it.  It is a group of German terrorists hijacking the Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza.  So, already, pretty cool if you ask me.  But let’s not forget this movie also comes with some of the greatest one liners of all time; “Now I have a machine gun.  Ho-ho-ho,” and “Welcome to the party, Pal!” and of course others we are not going to write in this article for reasons only you would know if you have seen the movie.

And of course, every holiday movie ends with a happy ending, which John McClane delivers in dramatic fashion jumping off the rooftop and then confronting the lead terrorist with a special surprise taped to his back.  So overall, for me, Diehard is easily the number one Christmas movie of all time based on the action, intensity, and of course, the holly jolly spirit it brings to the big screen.

Watching Christmas movies with family and friends each year is undoubtedly one of the best Christmas activities and traditions out there. With so many good films, it can be challenging to say which one really is the best, and while I truly don’t think there is one right answer, my personal favorite is How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey. The unique setting in Whoville to go along with Jim Carrey continuously making the audience laugh throughout the film, as well as the heartwarming storyline, makes it a fantastic Christmas story and overall film.

I have countless memories of watching this film with family and friends, and I truly believe that this movie really puts into perspective how much Christmas means to people and why Christmas is everybody’s favorite time of the year. I have yet to watch this movie this Christmas season, but I sure will soon relive my countless memories as a kid growing up watching this movie. In conclusion, due to the unique storyline of How the Grinch Stole Christmas mixed with the endless comedy and heartwarming storyline, I believe it is the best Christmas movie out there.
