Playboi Carti Releases new album Whole Lotta Red
Greendale students give their thoughts on his latest album.

After two years of leaked songs and a couple singles, rapper PlayBoi Carti finally decided to drop his album Whole Lotta Red on Christmas day. Many times he said he was going to drop it but he never went through with it. This brought a lot of hype around the album, and led to it being highly anticipated by his fans and others.
PlayBoi Carti became popular because of his unique flow and songs, and a lot of people liked it because it was different and they have never heard anything like it, but Carti took a new approach to his music on this album and it gave people mixed emotions. “I listened to the album because I expected it to be good like his other ones, but I don’t like the album at all and it was very disappointing,” senior Will Brust said.
Some people really enjoyed the album, and thought it was one of his best, but the only thing that was missing was his leaked songs. “His album was straight fire, but I really wanted him to drop more of his leaked songs,” junior Jordan Gruel said.
Unlike other artists, PlayBoi Carti’s leaked songs are some of his best songs, and people liked them because there were so many of them that his music would never be overplayed. Songs like “Kid Cudi” and “Cancun”, are songs that made him popular but were never released.
His fans expected them to be on the album but PlayBoy Carti chose not to, this led to a lot of his fans being disappointed. “PlayBoi Carti’s leaked songs are what made me listen to him, and the fact that they were never dropped really disappointed me,” sophomore Javon Murray said.
Even though some people were disappointed there were still a lot of who liked the album and thought Playboi Cartis new style was good. “I really like songs like ‘Sky’ and ‘Vamp Anthem.’ His new style is different and I like it cause no one else sounds like him,” junior Jackson Richards said.
PlayBoi Cartis album brought a unique flow that no one has heard and gave a lot of people mixed emotions. Many feel he is a great artist and has changed the rap game forever, and his fans are ready for the next album.
