The Greendale girls soccer team has started the season strong, and the players believe that they can go very far this season. Having a very young team comes with ups and downs, however the players need to be able to have enough self control and be able to have patience with each other and build chemistry and friendships on and off the field.

So far the team’s record is 3-4. “I think that our best win so far was when we played Wisconsin Lutheran because during that game we were able to pass the ball around well, score on the opportunities that came and we had great communication,” sophomore Kylee Swenski said.

Although things are going pretty well, there are some  problems at practices. When players mess up or don’t execute the objective properly they  have to be able to take criticism and get back up and try again.

“Some of the issues on the team are shooting and not being able to finish our opportunities, but when we lift our team up and give them good advice it seems to help a lot with the confidence of the younger players,” junior Bailee Anders said.

The captains on the team really strive to help the players become better people on and off the field. The coach not only picked the captains because of their athletic abilities, but their ability to communicate with players ,leading  to the chemistry to also improve.

“It feels good to be a captain because everyone values my ideas and it feels good to be a leader on and off the field,” Anders said.

The team really believes that they can go a lot further in the postseason than last year. Towards the end of the season,  the competition gets tougher and tougher.

“Our end goal is to last longer in the Playoff tournament at the end of the season because this is my last time playing with some of these girls and I want to make every last moment count,” junior Isabel Schrank said.
