Just recently four Greendale DECA members went to California to compete for Nationals. Those four went: sophomores Zayd Cartagena, Leonardo Gamboa, Noah Thomson, and junior Delaney Eggert. They went out there for five days to compete.
“I then competed at state, winning top 7 there, and that’s what qualified me for nationals,” Cartagena said.
To qualify for National the students competed at the district competition and made the top 10. Then they competed at State and placed the top 10 there.
The adviser of DECA and business trade is Andy Muszytowski. He said the kids did well.
“The entire trip, which started at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, was a joy. of Four DECA members were awesome, attentive, committed, and fun. I think one of the highlights was when we were on Rodeo Drive shopping at Tiffany’s. Traveling with the students and hearing their stories in the minivan had some humorous moments too. Overall, it was a very good trip!,” business teacher Andy Muszytowski said.
A lot of students join DECA to get into the business world and travel to different places to compete, and to get into the business world and to meet a lot of new people around the world.
“I joined DECA due to my interest in pursuing business or finance after graduation, I had heard that joining DECA and competing would give me skills that are useful in these careers as well as improve my resume when applying to college,” Gamboa said.
