A new teacher joining GHS this year is social studies teacher Lucy Siepler. Before she got the job here at Greendale last year she was a substitute teacher. “I ended the year with a long-term sub at Oak Creek Middle School teaching 8th grade Social Studies,” she stated. Prior to her two years of teaching, she attended St. Norbert College in De Pere.

Her most enjoyable experience here at GHS so far is being a Student Council advisor and planning Homecoming this year. “I have really enjoyed seeing the students involved and taking on leadership positions. My team winning the powderuff was also very enjoyable,” she said.

Siepler has loved the welcoming atmosphere that Greendale has to offer. “I have felt as though I belong here since my first day. I look forward to each day due to how awesome my classes and coworkers are to me,” she said.

Her entire life she has known that she wanted to be a teacher, so it is very exciting for her to help students solve problems and learn new content. “Teenagers are such an awesome age group to work with, and I already knew that it would be so much fun teaching them while they become young adults,” she said.

Siepler is a big reader and enjoys the outdoors.“Outside of school I love to read. I have read 60 books this year so far! I also enjoy visiting plant stores, going on walks, and spending time with my 3-month old godson, Theo,” she said.
