As the temperature drops and the snow begins to fall on the ground, students are counting down the days until winter break as it is almost time for the holidays. Although many students celebrate the holidays differently, they still find traditions that bring their families together.
When the holidays are around, many people stay with their families and give and receive gifts. That is a tradition that many people have, and they enjoy it.
“My favorite part of Christmas is getting gifts. I like getting clothes to upgrade my wardrobe and getting other varieties of things,” junior Emerson Lisowski said. “I also like making Christmas cookies and decorating them.”
“My brothers and I have Christmas Eve with my mom, and Christmas Day with my dad,” sophomore Aaron Sokolosky said. “That way I see all my family and spend time with everyone.”
Students get to see their extended family during the holidays.
“The day before, on Christmas Eve, my family goes to church. The day of Christmas, my family wakes up and opens presents, then my Grandparents come over to my house later to eat dinner,” junior Brandon Antzcak said.
Other things people do include decorating their homes and going to look at holiday lights.
“I like decorating around the house and putting the Christmas tree up. I also like putting all the different lights and decorations around the house,” junior Lilah Martinez said. “The holidays are really important for me, I love spending time with my family and friends.”
Holiday music is something that many people like listening to. It gets them in a festive mood.
“My favorite Christmas song is Jingle Bells. It’s been my favorite since I was a little kid, and gives me flashbacks to elementary school,” senior Noah Lofy said.
