Graduation party season is almost here for GHS seniors. Some are hosting their own parties while others are just attending. Graduation parties are their final chance to celebrate with friends and family before everyone goes their separate ways. Several seniors shared their thoughts on themes, activities, and how many parties they are going to.
Senior Dylan Flink said what makes graduation parties memorable is being able to have fun with friends one last time.
“Just being able to have fun with your friends one last time before everyone goes off to college,” Flink said.
Flink believes graduation parties are worth the money, depending on the spending.
“But it really depends on how much you end up spending on food, decorations, and renting stuff like tables, etc,” Flink said.
Senior Lukas Reichart said what makes graduation parties memorable is being able to see you’ve met through the years of high school.
“I like being able to connect with everyone you know throughout high school. Seeing people after a long year of only seeing them in school compared to out of school is fun.” he said.
Senior Clea Walters said the best part of graduation parties is seeing people all in one place.
“I love grad parties because you get to have fun with people you don’t see all the time during the school year,” Walters said. “I wanted to have a party so I could hang out with my friends and I chose a Marquette theme to show where I am heading next fall.”
Her party will have bags, spikeball, and other yard games at her house. She chose her date based on what worked best for her schedule.
Senior Ryleigh Settle says she will have some activities at her graduation party and take some ideas from others.
“I will be attending 30 graduation parties and seeing what they do at theirs to use some ideas for mine,” She said.
Senior T’Asja Brown said the theme of a party is what makes it memorable “It is graduation, so you want everything to feel special and different from a normal birthday party or cookout,” she said. “Grad parties are worth the money because you end up receiving money and gifts from family and friends, so it kind of balances out in the end.”
Her party will have bags, poker, Uno, and going out with friends later in the night. She chose to have her party in July on a Saturday because it is after all the June chaos.
A graduation party does not need to be expensive or elaborate to matter. What makes it worth it is the time spent with people who have been there through all four years. After high school is all said and done, these parties are the last chance to be together. That is something worth showing up for.
