As 2026 starts, students around the school are thinking about what they want to change or improve in their lives. Many of them are using New Year’s resolutions as motivation to work harder and stay focused.
For some students, college is the biggest goal this year.
“My main New Year’s resolution is to get accepted into my number one college and attend it,” senior Josie Marshall said. “Since graduation is soon, this has been on my mind for a while.”
Other students are focused on sports and improving their skills.
“My New Year’s resolution is to keep improving at basketball and make the team next season,” Sophomore Aayan Farukh said. “I’ve been playing basketball since I was a kid, and playing it makes me happy. I’ve had this personal goal for a while.”
Some students talked about goals they already accomplished and what they want to do next.
“My resolution was to reach 190 pounds body weight and I achieved it, although it was hard,” senior Zavier Castillo said. “Now I want to average 20 points per game in basketball.”
Other students shared resolutions focused on personal growth and character.
“My New Year’s resolution is to be nicer to people,” junior AJ Bird said.
Some seniors are preparing for life after high school and setting goals for college.
“My resolution is to do good academically and find new friends in college,” senior Kyla Bassler said.
Other students are hoping to make the most of their time after graduation.
“My New Year’s resolution is to travel as much as I can,” senior David Acamovic said.
Many students feel motivated going into the new year because they have clear goals in mind. These resolutions show how students are trying to improve themselves and push toward bigger dreams in school, sports, and life beyond high school.
