Music fans were excited when Bruno Mars announced his Romantic Tour on Jan. 8, 2026, sparking the attention of hundreds of thousands of fans and creating a record-breaking ticket sale of 2.1 million tickets in just one day. One of his locations included Sofi Stadium in Chicago, Illinois, where multiple Greendale students attended his concert a few weekends ago, including members of the Greendale DECA team who qualified for Nationals in Atlanta.
Multiple sophomores went to the concert including Giselle Muñoz and Lauren Xayachack.
Muñoz has been a fan of Bruno since she was young and was ecstatic to be able to see him live.
“I have been a fan for as long as I can remember,” Muñoz said. “My favorite part of the concert was definitely the the entrance and the rush of adrenaline right as the first note was played to his opening song, Risk it All. It made me realize ‘Wow, I’m really seeing my favorite singer live’.”
Xayachack has also been a fan for a long time and loved seeing certain songs in concert.
“I’ve loved Bruno since I was little, and my reaction was, ‘I need to go’!,” Xayachack said. “What I liked most about the concert was that he played a mix of old and new songs, and my favorite song he played was When I Was Your Man. That was my favorite because the lyrics are so good.”
Greendale students who attended DECA Nationals had the opportunity to go to the concert after finding out they were in the location where he was touring at the same time. Senior Leo Gamboa is one of a few students who traveled on the trip and went to the concert in Atlanta.
“I definitely thought that going on a school trip added to the fun. The students I went with found out that Bruno was coincidentally going to be there, so we asked our advisor Mr. Galante, who was all in on the idea,” Gamboa said. “My favorite part was when he performed some of his biggest songs like Locked Out of Heaven, and Talking to The Moon, because everyone in the crowd was singing and it was such a surreal moment.”
The colors of the tour were red, black, and white blending fiery romance with Mars’ clasic 70s and 80s retro funk. Gold and Maroon are Mars’ personal favorite colors and he encourages fans to wear things red, gold, and adorned with roses to the tour.
Muñoz coordinated her outfit to the colors of the tour and even did her own nails to match the theme.
“I wore a burgundy top from garage, brown skirt from Edikted, Sambas, a leather jacket from Levis, and jewelry from Pandora and Kendra Scott,” Muñoz said. “After the concert, I bought one of the concert shirts with all of his tour dates and locations because I couldn leave without one of those!”
The students who went to the concert all had favorite parts and felt involved in the dreamlike glamour and ambience of his performance.
