Even with the chaos of school, sports, and exams, students are already looking ahead. Not just to college, but to the upcoming movies and shows being released in 2026. To find out what’s actually cutting through the noise, students expressed what they’re anticipating and why.
Senior Leo Gamboa, who has watched the entire The Hunger Games series so far, is looking forward to Sunrise on the Reaping.
“I’m definitely interested because of how developed the plot and the depth of the world building, but I hope they bring new aspects to the games, not just recycling the same story,” he said.
Senior Davic Acamovic, whose favorite series is Peaky Blinders, is excited for the movie release but is protective towards the show’s greatness. He thinks a sequel shouldn’t just be for money, but an add-on to something meaningful.
“I think the series ending was strong, so hopefully the movie can live up to that. I just hope it isn’t just another cash grab.” he said.
Junior Dana Flink, is looking forward to two different releases, Scream 7 and Moana Live Action.
“I’m ready for Scream 7 to surprise me and for Moana to give me the same nostalgia from when I was a kid,” she said.
Junior Kyler Schwartz, a true movie lover, is thrilled to watch Avengers Doomsday with his dad.
“I grew up watching all the Avengers movies with my dad but I’m most excited for Doomsday because Robert Downey Jr. is back as Doctor Doom,” he said.
It’s clear that even with so much happening right now, students at GHS still make room to be excited for what’s next. Whether it’s drama or a live action musical, what we look forward to says a lot about what we value.
