Zootopia 2 takes the audience back to the city where predators and prey live together in harmony. The story focuses on friendship, teamwork, and solving mysteries, with plenty of fun and adventure along the way. It brings back favorite characters and introduces new ones, making it a great watch for kids and teens who enjoy animated stories full of heart and humor.
Students and staff share their overall thoughts on the movie.
“I thought it was a good movie. I liked how it was full of action and you never knew what was going to happen next,” senior Maya Fladwood said.
“I liked how intense some scenes were,” junior Brady Lindholm-Krisman said. “It made everything more exciting and entertaining.”
However, some thought Zootopia 1 was better.
“I liked it. I like the old characters as well as the new characters, however I liked Zootopia 1 better,” Guidance Secretary Khou Perry said.
“I thought this movie was good but I liked the first one better because I liked how it showed Judy’s process of getting involved with the police,” sophomore Jordan Weber said.
Zootopia 2’s overall message was that empathy, collaboration, and confronting systemic injustice are essential for building a truly inclusive society. Yet, the movie has made it so everyone can gain a different perspective on what the true meaning is, giving broader ideas about the theme.
“The overall message I picked up was don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because someone or something seems innocent doesn’t mean they are,” Perry said.
“I think the point was to be careful who you trust, even if you consider them as a friend,” Fladwood said.
Characters from Zootopia 1 have made an appearance and students were excited to see them featured again.
“I was most excited to see Flash, which is the sloth,” junior Kyler Schwartz said. “I thought it was funny when he was driving the car.”
“Seeing Judy and Nick together was so cute,” sophomore Claire Hegudus said. “I think they work great together.”
Disney has done a great job at making child friendly movies. Teachers with children share their thoughts on Zootopia 2 being a good movie for the younger audience.
“It’s a good move for children. It has positive things about inclusion and teamwork, “ Special Education teacher Madhuri Kothapalli said. “All the animals work together and it shows good examples of prejudice as well as overcoming dark moments.”
“I think it was an appropriate movie for kids because it’s in cartoon form so my kids didn’t look too much into it,” Perry said.
Some students and staff have not yet found the time to watch this movie but want to eventually.
“I think I’ll just wait for it to be streaming and have a movie night with my family,” Film teacher Katie Wagner. “I want to see Judy and her progress with her career. I am also excited to see the sloths again.”
“I want to see it in theaters with my friends,” sophomore Gabriel Gamboa said. “I hope to see Nick and Judy together.”
Zootopia 2 has been a hit in the theaters the last couple of months. Both students and teachers were pleasantly surprised with the intensity and action throughout the movie. Those who haven’t seen it yet are also excited to see it.
