Popular hair and makeup products have been surfacing the internet and influencing girls of all ages. Many people have different opinions, goals, and strive to perfect their routine. Whether it’s a popular brand of blush, a trendy hair serum, or a snatched contour stick, sharing tips and tricks with others helps everyone feel confident and stylish. This culture not only can build friendships but also keeps students up-to-date on the latest beauty trends.
Students share popular hair brands they’ve seen recently.
“I see people using Olaplex and talk about that hair brand on TikTok a lot recently,” senior Eden Schuk said. “I’ve also heard about Redken and how it’s popular for hair growth.”
“The Loreal Elvive Dream length shampoo and conditioner has been popular,” senior Larissa Espinosa said. “It’s supposed to make your hair grow faster than many other lengthening shampoo brands.”
Girls with different hair types share brands they’ve seen work well.
“I’ve heard about Amika hair products and how they are made for any hair type and help with styling curly hair,” freshman Nahla Acosta said.
Students share popular makeup brands that have been surfacing the internet.
“The Huda Beauty setting powder was trending on the internet for a while,” senior Eva Sula said. “I use it and it’s super nice. It keeps your makeup lasting the whole day and gives a matte look.”
“The trending makeup I’ve seen on TikTok lately is the Rhode blushes,” junior Olivia Trentadue said. “I have two of them now and love them.”
Influencers have done a significant job on influencing girls to either buy different products or give advice for what to or not to do.
“Jeffree Star influenced me to not trust every product you see online,” Sula said.
“One of my favorite creators is Marssia Ayer’s because she always has the perfect base,” Trentadue said.
“My favorite hair influencer is Katie Richie because her hair is so blonde, healthy, and long. It’s impressive,” Schuk said.
Students share their favorite makeup and hair products and brands.
“Lately I’ve been loving the Mario Blush stick because it goes on super smooth and you can use it over powder before or after,” Trentadue said. “I also love the Rhode lip tints and have been collecting a few now.”
“I really like the Olaplex hair oil because it does a good job getting the crunch out after leaving gel in,” Acosta said.
“My favorite concealer is the Dior concealer, and my favorite type of make-up product is setting powder and bronzer,” Sula said.
While many brands work well, some should be avoided.
“I’m not a fan of Shea Moisture because their products don’t contain good ingredients and don’t hold curly hair styles very well,” Acosta said.
“I don’t like any L’oreal products because it doesn’t last and makes makeup look greasy,” junior Maddie Ploszay said.
Key tips and suggestions for the perfect end result are given.
“A key tip for a perfect makeup is to make sure you have a matching water or oil base with your concealer and prime so it doesn’t peel,” Sula said. “I also recommend putting bronzer on your eyelids to bring out the color.”
“I would say the biggest tip is that more is better,” Ploszay said.
“Never go to bed with wet hair because it causes breakage more easily and I would suggest always wearing a bonnet,” Espinosa said.
Although hair and makeup brands or trends come and go, it’s important to keep up with what’s new and know what products work best for different hair and skin types.
