Megan Moroney’s new album, Cloud 9, is making lots of waves in the music world for all ages. She tells stories through her heartfelt lyrics and her authentic storytelling. GHS students share their thoughts about her new album that came out on Feb 23, and upcoming concert at Summerfest in June.
Megan Moroney’s music career started in her college town in Athens, Georgia, where she showed off her musical skills playing local gigs while studying at the University of Georgia. After graduation, Moroney decided to focus more on her music full-time. Moving to Nashville, she immersed herself in the city’s songwriting community collaborating with other big artists. Her breakthrough started with her release of her song “Tennessee Orange.”
Students had many good thoughts about the album.
“I really liked the new album,” junior Olivia Trentadue said. “I thought it was a good mix of songs, like I don’t think there was one song I didn’t enjoy on the album. My favorite had to have been Medicine.”
Other students have mixed opinions about the album, and didn’t love it like some others.
“I was really excited about her new album coming out, but I was kind of hoping that it would have been a little bit better,” junior Rylee McDonald said. “I just thought it would have been a little different than her previous album.”
Since her album release, she also announced that she will be playing at Summerfest June 18.
“I’m going to the concert this summer at Summerfest and I’m so excited,” sophomore Claire Hegedus said. “Me and my friend group all bought tickets right away, especially since we found out her new album was coming out.”
