This year’s Coachella included multiple extremely well-known and popular music artists such as Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, and Kacey Musgraves, as well as many attending influencers and celebrities like Alix Earle, Steph Curry, and Kylie Jenner.
Supporters of performers also made appearances, with Hailey Bieber bringing her and Justin’s son in support of her husband, and Becky G, Karol G’s sister who is also a performer going to watch her sister’s performance, exemplifying their close relationship as performers and family.
Bieber’s performances have gone viral across social media, with videos reaching over 8M views of his “Beauty and a Beat” performance, where videos of his younger self were displayed on the screen of the stage. Students who are a fan of his music, especially his earlier songs have seen the videos of Coachella and agreed with the thousands of positive reactions online.
One student has listened to Bieber’s music for multiple years and returns to the songs written during his teenage years. Junior, Eliahna Tellez listens to Bieber’s songs while on the way to school or when getting ready.
“I love listening to Justin Bieber and his songs with other artists. The videos of him performing at Coachella and the change in vocals reminded me so much of how he sounded when he was younger, which I personally think sounds better than his newer music,” Tellez said.
Another artist who performed at Coachella was Sabrina Carpenter, who is popular in the current high school generation. Junior, Bailey Sowa is a huge fan of Sabrina Carpenter and watched videos of her performing at Coachella and would go if the opportunity arose.
“I watched the whole performance on a livestream, and I loved it!,” Sowa said. “I think she is such a good performer, and I love that she played songs from her old and new albums. Some of my favorite songs from the Short N’ Sweet album are Sharpest Tool, Bad Reviews, and Coincidence. I would absolutely go to Coachella if I had the opportunity to, and although Sabrina would’ve been my first priority, I would’ve loved to see Justin too!”
Besides Carpenter and Bieber, the final headliner of the music festival was Karol G, a Colombian artist with Spanish pop-music. For many, her appearance as a headliner was an exciting representation of bilingual and Spanish music in general.
