GHS will hold the very first live pro wrestling fundraiser, the Panther Rumble, presented by Big Dog and House Of Headlocks. This event will take place Friday, May 29 where many pro wrestlers will go head to head in this match.
Buddy club advisor Karla Geiger explains more in depth about what the money for tickets is being fundraised for.
“I am proud to co-advise our Buddy Club and we do a good amount of volunteerism and community outreach,” she said. “Fundraising helps us be able to purchase more ingredients for Cookies for Soldiers and even consider a pizza party with our Holiday Movie Event. We collaborate for many events with GMS Buddy Club and it is fun to include snacks for both clubs after
we play Kickball together to get to know each other better.”
Event Supervisor Dennis Spielvogel, known to students as Mr. Dennis, will be a wrestler at this event.
“Being my first year here, I got to know a lot of the students here, I am honestly blown away with all of the talent and how cool the students here are,” he said. “Everybody wanted me to wait til next year to do this, but I know a lot of the seniors here and I wanted to find my way to give back to you guys for being so welcoming. I wanted to end the school year with giving the students a big boom.”
This event is being put together by Athletic Director Mark. Pollex helped the buddy club arrange the event.
“This is not a school related event. We are simply hosting this occasion at our High School supporting Mr. Dennis and his other career of being a pro wrestler,” he said. “We were thinking about having this event during a pep rally or assembly but, with timing and having to plan the event there would be no time. We are excited to see what this event can bring us to in the future, maybe hosting something like this again or having Greendale High School be a part of the event completely.
Mr. Dennis has been wrestling for quite some time now.
“I did train with some MMA fighting and some jujistu, but this is my 4th year doing wrestling events for schools doing fundraisers. I trained at the Juke Roof for a while. I have been wrestling for 23 years and I love seeing some new people come out and just try,” he said. “House of Headlocks is where I am associated with. It is local for me with it being in Milwaukee, there is a wrestling school they have. I go there sometimes to see how the progression is going, I love seeing new kids come out and wrestle.”
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the main event is at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for students if purchased online or in the office and they will be $10 for students at the door. General admission tickets are $15. If you want to get up close for the best view in the front row, those tickets will be $25. There will be a pre-show and intermission presented by various Greendale Groups.
