NFL star and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone on Sunday Oct. 15 in the Packers game against the Minnesota Vikings after getting sacked by Vikings player Anthony Barr.

Rodgers will be out for about 6-8 weeks, possibly diminishing the Packers’ playoff hopes.

With Rodgers, the Packers got off to a hot 4-1 start, and were first in the NFC North division with wins against the Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears, and a tremendous comeback win against the Dallas Cowboys. Their one loss before Rodger’s injury was to last years Super Bowl Runner-Up, the Atlanta Falcons.

Rodgers ended up getting hurt in the first quarter of the game against the Vikings, and the Packers had to put in backup quarterback Brett Hundley, who threw for 157 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in their 23-10 loss.

Green Bay Packers star wide receiver Randall Cobb shared his thoughts on the injury and what his team needs to do to step up and keep a playoff run going.

“Unfortunately in the game of football, injuries occur,” Cobb said in an article espn.com. “We just need to build everything back up and repair our team.”

The hit delivered that caused the broken collarbone occurred after Rodgers threw a pass, and many Packer fans have been debating whether or not the hit was a dirty and if Barr should’ve even touched Rodgers.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy shared his thoughts on the hit delivered to his star quarterback.

“I didn’t like the hit,” McCarthy said in an article on espn.com on the injury. “I had a chance to watch it on the plane. He’s out of the pocket, he’s clearly expecting to get hit. To pin him to the ground like that, I felt it was an illegal act. `

Rodgers wasn’t the first NFL star to get injured in the young season. New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and Texans star defensive end J.J Watt both suffered season-ending injuries. In addition, Packers defensive back Morgan Burnett and offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga are also injured for the Packers.

Greendale High School freshman Sam Sommerfeld has his theories on why star players around the league are getting hurt.

“I believe star players are getting hurt because the other teams know they are good, and know they are a threat. This means they may play more dirty towards them,” Sommerfeld said. “Yes the injuries did affect those teams, but in order for these teams to stay on track, they have to find new weapons, and new schemes in order to stay successful this season.”

This NFL season has become very interesting with Rodgers getting injured as well as other NFL stars. What will make it even more interesting will be how these teams adjust to these injuries and how they can stay on track.

With this happening, we may see new NFL stars rise, and they step up for their team. Or, we may see good NFL teams fall because they cannot find good enough replacements for their injured starters. It will be very interesting to see where some teams will end up when the playoffs start up.
