GHS students will now be able to tune in to GTV to find out all of the latest news. GTV debuted last month and it is a group of around 30 members, they create different types of broadcasts that cover all the details on activities and clubs that happen at the school.
Students that are part of GTV have been working hard recently brainstorming creative ideas and creating new episodes for the students at GHS to enjoy.
Head editor junior Lola Urban has been heavily involved in the process the past few weeks.
“There’s so much work that goes into creating one of the 10-minute episodes. We have approximately four teams working on various types of footage and collections, each focusing on different topics. I am one of the head editors, so I am also doing a lot of editing of clips and filing down all of the longer clips I’m given,” she said.
Junior Maria Sol La Torre also shares about the creation process and the behind the scenes work that the group does.
“Behind the scenes we come up with ideas as a group of what we think should go in future episodes and how we can better our show—we all share honest opinions about what we think our schoolmates would like best and what they would find most entertaining to both participate in and watch,” she said.
GTV students have joined for a variety of reasons such as to be more involved in the school or to branch out their creativity, others also enjoy interacting with the student body.
“I joined GTV because I thought that being a part of a group of diligent workers would be so fun, as well as being creative in ways that I know how. I’m not a great painter or artist, but I love to be creative, so this experience really lets me use this creative drive I have and put it to use,” Urban said.
“Speaking to school body is a very cool experience, both when we’re going out and interviewing people and interacting with them, and also when the episodes are complete and you can see your message getting out to the whole school.” La Torre said.
The advisers for GTV are Jennifer Henze and Danielle Brannan. They came up with the idea to create GTV to spread announcements in a fun and entertaining way.
“I used to do video announcements in other schools where i worked, and they were really popular and a great way for students to engage with announcements in a more appealing way than reading an email,” Brannan said.
Many students have enjoyed watching the first episode, they are excited to see what the future episodes will contain.
“I think that it is a cool idea to make these videos, it is pretty interesting to see what they have come up with and what is happening in the school,” junior Adriana Estrada-Aguirre said.
With the amount of hard work and effort, GTV will be coming out with more episodes this next semester, and students should anticipate them in future advisories.
