Basketball Season Wraps Up

Basketball Season Wraps Up

After a long and difficult season, the boy’s basketball team’s season ended last month. With a 9-14 record, many wouldn’t think it was a successful season, but with them being in one of the hardest conferences in the state, The Woodland West, and playing non conference teams like Brookfield East, Brookfield Central, Milwaukee Lutheran, and Greenfield, they still found positives in their season.

One big positive is junior Devis Isaj, who had a very successful season, breaking the school record in points, and reaching 1000 points in only his junior year.

With only two seniors this year, senior Collin Kramp had to step up and lead a young team as a captain.

Another player who had a huge role was sophomore Brandon Harper. Only being a sophomore he had to deal with a lot of pressure. He was also the main defender on the team, having the most steals, and was assigned to guard every team’s best player.

“I had to put my heart into the game, ensuring I leave everything on the court. It was never easy but I understood that my team needed me to step up,” Harper said.

Because Kramp will be leaving next year, juniors Luke Mattes and Isaj have the honor of leading the team as next year’s captains. With a lot of talent leaving Woodland West, Greendale is expected to be a powerhouse next year, having most of their starters back and only losing two seniors.

“Although we did not have the season we thought we would have, I learned to be humble and play every game like it is my last one. Next year is ours, we will be conference champs and hopefully go to state” Isaj said.

Kramp is thankful he was able to play for Greendale basketball all four years. “ I can’t believe it is all over but it’s life and we have to move on. I am just thankful that I was able to be a leader and come out of my senior season without any regrets. Being able to play my favorite sport with my best friends is a memory I will never forget,” he said.
