The MLB World series ended earlier this month and the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 4-3.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto ended up winning the world series MVP, pitching 17.2 innings and only giving up 2 earned runs.
“Yoshinobu Yamamoto deserved the world series MVP, he was dominant on the mound, nobody could hit him,”sophomore Eli Paul said.
To start off the series the Blue Jays came out hot and scored 11 runs in the first game, with catcher Alejandro Kirk leading the team with 3 hits. Dodgers pitcher Blane Sell had a terrible game, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings.
The Dodgers struck back in game 2 winning 5-1 with Yamamoto pitching 9 innings only giving up 1 run and Will Smith hitting in 3 runs.
Game 3 went 18 innings and the Dodgers pulled out winning 6-5, with Freddie Freeman hitting a walk of homerun to end the game.
“I think Freddie Freeman should have won MVP for the world series,” senior Peter Geittmann said. “He was the reason they won game 3.”
After losing 2 games in a row the Blue Jays struck back by winning game 4, 6-2 and game 5, 6-1, to take a 3-2 lead. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a home run in both games to help the Blue Jays win them both.
“Vladimir was the only reason the Blue Jays got to game 7,” Paul said. “He was basically their whole offense in most of the games/.”
The Dodgers struck back in game 6 winning 3-1 with Mookie Betts driving in 2 runs and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching 6 innings only giving up 1 run.
Game 7 went into extra innings and many say it was one of best games ever. The Blue Jays started off hot, scoring 3 runs in the third inning to take the early lead. The Dodgers slowly started scoring and were only down 4-3 in the 9th inning when Miguel Rojas hit a solo home run to tie the game up in the 9th inning.
In the 11th inning Will Smith hit a homerun to give the Dodgers the lead and the Blue Jays couldn’t score in the bottom of the inning. Yamamoto closed out the game, going 2 innings and giving up only 1 hit.
“It was a great series to watch,” sophomore Beckett Lisowski said. “Game 7 was one of the best games I watched.”
