
The MLB season is over and the awards have been announced and Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge won The AL and NL MVP award.
Ohtani made history by being voted MVP unanimously for the fourth time, three of which were consecutively. Ohtani had a batting average of .282 and 55 home runs, While also being dominant on the mound, pitching 14 games with an ERA of 2.87.
“Ohtani was dominant on both sides of the ball. It was clear he was winning MVP” sophomore Aaron Rekowski said.
Judge won his third MVP of his career. He hit a career high batting average of .331 which led the league and he also hit 53 home runs and led the league in WAR (Wins above replacement) with 9.7.
“Cal Raleigh should have won mvp he was the best hitter” sophomore Beckett Lisowski said, “Hitting 60 home runs as a catcher is crazy.”
Tarik Skubal won the AL Cy Young award and is the 12th pitcher to win it in back to back years. Skubal had a 2.21 ERA and struck out 241 in 195.1 innings pitched. Skubal also finished fifth in MVP voting.
Paul Skenes won the NL Cy Young unanimously. Skenes Led the MLB with a 1.97 ERA and is just the 3rd pitcher to win Rookie of the year and Cy Young, within their first two seasons of their career.
First baseman for the Athletics Nick Kurtz won the AL Rookie of the Year unanimously. Kurtz led all rookies with 36 home runs and 86 RBIs, in 117 games.
“Kurtz is already one of the best hitters in his first season,” sophomore Crew Jastroch “I think he will win multiple MVPs in his career.”
Drake Baldwin won the NL Rookie of the Year. He was one of the best blocking catchers of the year and led the NL in fWAR. Baldwin had a batting average of .274 and hit 19 home runs. Caleb Durbin finished third in voting and Isaac Collins finished in fourth place for the Brewers.
Pat Murphy won NL manager of the year leading the Brewers to the best record in the MLB with 97 wins and Stephen Vogt Won the AL manager of the year with the Cleveland Guardians winning the AL central.
