The NBA All Star Game (ASG) voting for 2026 has ended and there are lots of big names that made the cut and some that people think were snubbed from the games.
One of the big names that didn’t make the All Star team was Lebron James, who for the first time in his career, didn’t make the ASG as a starter. After 21 straight seasons of being an All Star starter he didn’t make the cut this year.
“I think it’s crazy that Lebron didn’t become a starting all star this year,” freshman Will Schrieder said. “There was so much great talent in the league this year, but it’s just crazy to hear he didn’t make the cut after being as good as he is at age 41.”
Another big name who wasn’t voted as a starter is Timberwolves Guard Anthony Edwards, who most people consider an MVP candidate and one of the best players in the league for the last couple of years.
“I think Anthony Edwards got completely snubbed from the ASG,” freshman Abdul Jamaleddin said. “It’s crazy to hear a guy averaging almost 30 isn’t an All Star starter, and some people who have been playing not on his level like Curry are starting. Just because it’s a bigger market than Minnesota and also because Curry is a bigger name than Ant.”
But most feel that for the most part the best players or most popular got voted in correctly. The starters in the Eastern Conference are, PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, SF Jaylen Brown, PG Jalen Brunson, PG Cade Cunningham, and PG Tyrese Maxey.
The reserves for the Eastern Conference are, PF Scottie Barnes, C Jalen Duren, PF Jalen Johnson, SG Donovan Mitchell, SF Norman Powell, PF Pascal Siakam, and C Karl Anthony Towns.
In the Western Conference they have PG Stephen Curry, PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, PG Luka Dončić, C Victor Wembanyama, and C Nikola Jokić. These players are some of the best in the world and there’s not a lot of people better than them.
The reserves for the Western Conference are, PF Deni Avdija, SG Devin Booker, PF Kevin Durant, SG Anthony Edwards, PF Chet Holmgren, PF Lebron James, and PG Jamal Murray.
“I think Şengün deserved an All Star spot over some of these people,” freshman Cayden Kelley said. “He has been having the best season of his career and just because he’s not as big of a name as his teammate Kevin Durant doesn’t mean that he doesn’t deserve the all star spot. I think Chet, Lebron, and his teammate KD could be replaced by Şengün and he deserves the spot more than them.”
The ASG has lots of events including a new three team round robin tournament format, pitting two U.S. teams against one World team. Every year they also include the 3pt contest with some of the best 3pt shooters in the league, and the dunk contest to try and get the most electric dunk out of all the players.
The NBA ASG will take place at the Los Angeles Clippers arena and it will look to be a fun event from Feb 13th to Feb 15th.
