After a long NFL season two teams have finally made it to Super Bowl LX: the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. This is a rematch from the 2015 Super Bowl, but neither teams have players from the 2015 Super Bowl on their current roster.
The Patriots are led by MVP candidate QB Drake Maye in his second year of playing in the NFL. Maye was the third overall pick in 2024, and led the NFL in QB rating and was third in touchdowns and fourth in passing yards.
The Seahawks are led by all-pro WR, Jaxson Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba leads the league in receiving yards and is an Offensive Player of the Year finalist.
“Smith-Njigba is the best receiver in the league,” senior Peter Geittmann said. “He has the most yards and averages 15 yards a catch.”
In the conference championship game the Seahawks beat the Rams 31 to 27 with former Rams WR Copper Kupp having a clutch first down catch for the Seahawks to win the game, while RAms WR Davantae Adams had a clutch touchdown catch to cut the lead to 4 points. Smith-Njigba had ten catches for 153 yards and one touchdown to help lead the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.
The Patriots beat the Broncos 10-7 with Maye having the winning touchdown on a run. Cornerback Christan Gonzalez helped the Patriots win with an interception. The Broncos had back up QB Jarrett Stidham playing because Bo Nix got injured the week prior in the game against the Bills in the overtime win 33-30.
The Seahawks are currently favored to win.
“I think the Seahawks are gonna destroy the Patriots,” sophomore Eli Paul said. “The Patriots barely beat the Broncos with a backup QB, and Seattle’s defense is one of the best in the league.”
Others think the Patriots will win.
“I think the Patriots are gonna win the Super Bowl,” sophomore Bryce Carlson said “Drake Maye is one of the best players in the league.”
